A World of Symbols
In my work I use symbols, some universal, others deeply personal. Together they form a world of secrets, mystery and menace. It feels like a fairy tale, where animals are archetypes and trees become living beings.
This drawn world is built from memories, imagination and magical thinking.
The wolf stands for all that is unknown: the threatening, the wild, the untamed, the absence of control. Its counterpart is the poodle, the tamed and cultivated.
Humans never appear in my drawings, yet they are present in what they leave behind: a felled tree, the menacing glow of a flashlight. Their destruction is visible, even when they themselves remain unseen.
Through these symbols and archetypes, I search for the core of who I am and the world I live in. Questions are asked, but never answered.
